The natural burial ground is managed as a central part of the historic Forbes Estate. For almost six hundred years, Castle Forbes in the Vale of Alford, Aberdeenshire, has been the seat of Scotland’s Premier Lord of Scotland, the Chief of Clan Forbes.
Occupying an impressive site at the heart of the 6,000-acre Forbes Estate with magnificent views across the river Don, the present castle was built in 1815 by the 17th Lord Forbes and is currently occupied by his great-great-great grandson Malcolm, 23rd Lord Forbes (Premier Lord of Scotland), and his wife Jinny, Lady Forbes.
Malcolm is always happy to show people around the burial ground and is often the person who greets families on the day of a funeral.
